White Fox is Hiring!
Full Time Artist
We’re looking for a motivated, talented artist with a minimum 2 years experience and a strong portfolio to join our team in Nunawading. We are also open for guest artist applications.
We offer flexible hours and above industry pay rates, plus we are super nice and have a fun, relaxed and progressive space!
Please note this is a contract position and not a space hire.
What are your tattooing rates?
Deposit/Minimum charge: $150
Hourly Rate: $200
Design Fees:
Small: $50+
Medium: $100+
Large: $200+
Deposits are deducted from your tattoo appointment on the day.
All hourly rates are inclusive of all preparation, cleaning times, medical-grade dressings, aftercare advice, and GST. Design rates are charged separately.
Design rates are quoted at consultation.
One free touch up is also included within the first 3 months, however this is not always the case so check with your artist.
How do custom designs work?
Rates (base on prices above) are quoted at consultation based on the time estimated to complete the design.
This may include a pre-sketch to finalise placement. Also, first round of (minor) edits are complimentary, and charged at $50 per change after that.
We base our fees on a good faith estimate of how long it should take us to do the design, and all size and complexity definitions are at the artists’ discretion. We will let you know all costs expected at your consult, and send your design around 5-8 days before your appointment for you to approve.
Please note, these are not finished artworks in themselves, and act only as a visual agreement between your artist and yourself on content, colour, ratio, & placement. Adjustments may occur with the final tattoo to ensure the best outcome for your skin tone and individual needs, and wherever possible we will get your ok before going ahead with any changes.
Do you sell Gift Vouchers?
We sure do! Head on over to this page to buy an eCard instantly & securely online.
We can also do a fancy ‘real’ one to go with your online purchase if you need something real to wrap up – info on the page above, we can send it for free or you can drop in to the studio and collect it.
Where are you located?
The studio is located at 11 Market St., Nunawading in Victoria, Australia. You can most easily reach us by train (Lilydale line) or just off the Eastlink, down Springvale road.
We used to be in McAdam Square but have relocated to a bigger space!
Are your inks vegan?
Yes! We use World Famous & Eternal inks for all our colour work and Dynamic for black, which are both vegan AND cruelty free (yay!).
The soaps and stencilling products we use are also vegan, and our studio is run as sustainably as possible.
Can you quote a price for my tattoo idea?
We certainly can! Our artists can do ballpark quotes via email based on basic info, and will do a proper set quote after a consult with you. This is based on the hourly rate for how long we expect it to take based on our experience (excluding apprentices, they are learning and need guidance and extra time allowed).
If on the day it takes longer than expected, we may add on extra charges for the time taken, but will always give you a heads up if that looks likely to occur. It doesn’t happen often!

Why do you charge for designs?
By charging for designs we can schedule a good chunk of time to put loads of research – and of course, love – into each design.
Many studios will still do your design on the day, not giving you time to think about such a big decision or to make important changes.
Being put on the spot can be super intimidating and sometimes clients say yes out of anxiety, fear of being difficult or putting the artist in a bad mood.
By designing a week ahead and emailing them across, we eliminate those worries and give our clients a chance to make the right decisions for them.
What won’t you tattoo?
Anything:
– Rascist/ sexist/ harmful/ insulting
– We think won’t objectively look good, or age well
– We aren’t confident in doing. We will refer you on
Anyone:
– Under 18
– Pregnant or breastfeeding
– Drunk or on drugs
– Rude, aggressive, difficult to work with or have needs beyond our ability
Body Parts:
– Genitals (breasts are ok)
– Palms or bottom of the feet,
– Sides of fingers or feet
How should I care for my new tattoo?
All our clients will be guided through the aftercare procedure in studio before they get tattooed, and are provided with an Aftercare sheet to download.
If you’ve been tattooed by us and lost your copy please email us for a link at [email protected]. It can also be downloaded at the bottom of this page.
All studios and regions have their own aftercare requirements, so if you haven’t attended our studio please contact your own studio or local health department for aftercare advice.
Do tattoos hurt?
Honestly yes, at least a little bit! But everyone’s pain tolerance is different, and different areas tend to hurt more or less.
The good news is that most people don’t find it completely intolerable and it’s usually compared to a hot cat scratch… totally worth it!
I think my tattoo is infected. What do I do?
While this is unusual, if you suspect infection please consult your doctor ASAP to avoid serious complications and reduce damage to the tattoo.
Also, let the studio know too so your artist is aware it, and can advise you on your options once the infection has cleared.
Also, ensure you follow your aftercare to the letter, as we aren’t able to offer our free touchup if you were responsible for any poor healing outcomes.
Which spot hurts the most?
Everyone has a different opinion on this, but most people say ribs. And if it’s bony, near a joint, or doesn’t see sunlight a lot, it’ll probably sting a bit more.
But if you’re worried about the pain, don’t change where you want your tattoo based just on that… we promise, a few hours of discomfort is nothing compared to 60 years of regret from picking an ‘easier’ spot!
Where should my tattoo go?
This is really part personal preference, guided by the style of tattoo (certain styles don’t look great on certain skin areas), your age, and fitting the tattoo idea to your individual body shape.
This is why as a custom studio we do consultations, so we can chat in person about what will work best for you individually.
